Automated welding seam polishing solution: industrial robots equipped with force-controlled floating polishing heads for cleaning welding spatter

In the production of box-type components and parts for construction machinery, the workload for polishing weld seams and removing weld marks is immense. Manual polishing is inefficient and labor-intensive. There are common issues with welded parts, such as uneven weld seam heights and positioning deviations. Directly using a rigid robot polishing head results in varying depths of polishing at different weld seam locations, which affects subsequent spray-coating and assembly processes. By adding a force-controlled floating polishing head, the floating mechanism automatically adapts to the variations in the weld seam, maintaining a stable polishing pressure and evenly removing welding slag and spatter.

The robot’s grinding head features a high-power pneumatic design, equipped with a grinding wheel and a leaf wheel, enabling efficient completion of rough grinding operations. The force-controlled floating grinding head continuously cushions impacts, preventing the grinding head from becoming stuck and causing deep scratches on the workpiece’s surface. The entire equipment can operate continuously around the clock.
